June Newsletter 2024

Thank you June! Summer is here officially!

However, the weather still needs to get the update!

If you haven’t been lucky enough to enjoy some time outside, I hope this July will provide the much-needed Vitamin D dose we all need.

If you don’t know me, I am Catherine and I have home-educated my 3 children since 2011! One daughter is off to University in September, and I am experienced with SEN and I am most probably on the ASD spectrum myself!

June has been absolutely hectic with work, pleasure and decision-making.

So what’s been happening in The Joy of Learning?

For Them

Just a short update. I have been popping the products over to the shop website which is different from this one at thejoyoflearning.org. I have a whole list of requested products which I hope to get done this coming July so watch this space if you have asked for one.

I have put together an updated Bird Bingo. I made one for Teacher Pay Teacher many moons ago, this is a huge upgrade which just proves you have to keep going to improve. If you use the code birdbingo50 you can get 50% off this month.

For You

The membership is slowly coming together and will be launching in September! It will be packed full of freebies and ways to make your home education journey special!

Don’t laugh, but I thought I would include a Weekly Cleaning List this month – maybe because it feels like I have done a lot this month!

There have been a few updates with the blog, including a book review for neurodivergent children.

For Me

I feel like one of the luckiest people on the planet this month as we saw Taylor Swift in concert.

Special Family Memories
But the build up was so stressful.

Having children with Autism means you have to be so prepared for everything to make sure it runs smoothly to avoid meltdowns. We packed a boot full of food, a change of clothes for hot and cold weather, earphones, rain macks, and alternative travel arrangements in case my car decided to do its thing and break down unexpectedly! Several phonecalls to the Anfield Stadium to cover all aspects that would cause issues if not addressed. And may I add here that the staff were absolutely amazing! I could not fault them one bit!

Anyway, having a family of neurodivergents, I found having a What’s App group with everything from parking arrangements, tickets, departure times, to be helpful as people with Autism have to know what is going on to avoid the anxiety of winging it!

And then there has always to be a plan B as ‘change’ is a swear word in our home!

After all that, I wish you all a happy July! Whatever you may be doing to increase The Joy of Learning may it go well and please feel free to join the Facebook group and tell us all about it.
