April Newsletter 2024

Hi there, we are at the end of April already!

And here in the UK, the April showers are truly in full swing!!

April Newsletter

If you don’t know me, I am Catherine and I have home-educated my 3 children since 2011! One daughter is off to University in September, and I am experienced with SEN and I am most probably on the ASD spectrum myself!

April really did shower me with rain! In the metaphorical sense that is!

So what’s been happening in The Joy of Learning? This is really just a quick update this time as you will see why shortly! This month has been a difficult one for me (read more below), I haven’t managed to get much done so I can only apologize and hope next month will be different.

For them

So, instead of bringing you anything new, I can show you in the direction of a few things that may help this coming month. Especially if you are starting to explore outside with your kids because the weather has been getting a little better and we are seeing changes in the environment!

Spring Pond Life Scavenger Hunt which is free!

Sale on The World Map! So set off on your adventures with the free Road Trip Planner

And a free Frog Life Cycle Printable

Remember you are making a positive difference in the life of your child.

Sometimes we just need to remember that. We get that guilty feeling over and over when we educate our kids at home. Always feeling like someone else is doing better! But honestly, they are not! They are just doing what is better for their kids!!

For you

As I have been juggling many balls and not done anything new, here’s a little reminder of something to help with your month ahead, the summer ones won’t be long!! If you haven’t already seen them I have the Spring Collection Digital Greeting Cards as we always forget to buy because we are so focused on the kids! I have sent two off in April already! Use the code SC50 for 50% off and get that card you forgot to pick up for someone special!

For me

So here goes, for me, it has been a tough month! One daughter has had a concussion, my other daughter has been in A&E and had an emergency operation, and I stayed awake for 39 hours – I didn’t know that was humanly possible! My car broke down and I got a parking fine while waiting for the RAC in the Aldi car park. And now my husband is poorly and not with man flu, but on a positive note my daughter celebrated her 22nd birthday and we went to London to see Itzy and Hades Town – if you haven’t seen it, you must!!! What an amazing show!!!

Anyway, I didn’t throw myself into work to escape the chaos (which I sometimes do) but I rather took the time to reflect on the month and process it. Sometimes we just need to stop!

If things aren’t going the way you need them to, just stop! Take a breather and start again when you have gathered the energy!!

If this is your first visit, I hope you will sign up for my newsletter. I am also on Facebook and Instagram.

Have a lovely month ahead, enjoy the bank holiday weekend and I hope you can make use of some of the things I have popped on
