March Newsletter 2024
Hi there, we are at the end of March already! Spring is here!! The snowdrops have bloomed and almost gone, the daffodils are out and swaying in the breeze (well high winds in the UK the last week) and the leaf buds have started to show!!!
If you don’t know me, I am Catherine, I have home-educated my 3 children since 2011! One daughter is off to University in September, I am experienced with SEN and I am most probably on the ASD spectrum myself!
March has been a busy month of change!
We are changing seasons, we have had the clocks spring forward, the mornings and nights are getting lighter and before we know it we will be in the midst of summer.
For them
I hope you have all had a chance to visit my shop and look at what I have uploaded this month for the kids. The Frog Cycle is new to the shop and is free! The Spring Pond Life Scavenger Hunt is available to download for free too! And if you fancy the free Road Trip Planner you can get The World Map half-price until the end of March which is the perfect artwork to pop on your wall.
I have also started a brand new blog called On The Go Education which is bite-size snippets of key information for when you are out and about and your kids are throwing all those questions at you. If you have a specific topic that you would like on there let me know by emailing thejoyoflearninglounge@gmail.com. The first up is frogs, I mean who doesn’t love frogs?
I have the Adventure Learning Loop Planner out now on Amazon for all the adventurers out there! Maybe plan your week of frog hunting and let your kids record what they learn while out and about! You will find highly recommended books on the blog if you want to make a full week of learning?! And if your kids are into chess there is a great tactical journal available on Amazon now too!
For you
In a poll we did in the group, many of you said you struggle with overwhelm and self-doubt when home-educating your children at home. Over the next few months, I will create a space where we can delve into ways to help with self-doubt and find ways to lower the overwhelm.
I have also started to pop things into the shop to help with those everyday occurrences that cause us to add extra stress to our day! What has this got to do with The Joy of Learning? I hear you ask! Well, I know all too well that when we are so focused on our children everything else seems to be forgotten so it is to help you out if that is the case!
Children learn what they want to learn.
Don’t ever feel like you have to force your child to learn as that will make them run a mile. They have their interests and believe me they will learn all about them when they are ready.
For me
For me, it has been a tough one, our family had our hopes set high and everything fell through! A hard lesson to learn! But we keep on moving forward!
I started a YouTube channel I would love you to subscribe! My first video was one of my favourites when my son was small and learning about snails! We used the *Pandia Press Life curriculum!
